Oh, this is so wonderful! I love it all but especially your son's cyclone letter. I will call my mom tomorrow. I mentioned at lunch at a restaurant in West Hills that I should find out if my wild child is coming to east Tennessee for Thanksgiving again, and my husband (their stepdad) said, "Good grief, that's months from now -- they could be living on the other side of the country by then." But if they do come here I am going to go back to this restaurant and order a whole board of nothing but French fries, their favorite food. xoxoxoxo

Kerry, you are such a glorious writer. Thank you for sharing so much of yourself, for giving us insight into your family, for making us see how compassion and love exists in relationships that are outside the boundaries. I still hope we can meet but, meanwhile, enjoy these lovely slices of your life. Thanks again. Nancy Dorman-Hickson

Thank you, Beth - I swear I always think it will take an hour or two to write of these and it takes more like 12 hours as I fiddle and play. It's all going into the memoir somehow. My friend, Donna Rifkind, wanted me to write something about Rickwood Field. Thank you so much. Big love xo

Correction: I decided to take up baseball seriously before they died, I had mastered a curveball while training at Temple st that January, after not being invited to the holidays again. I didn't get invited to Rickwood either. Coincidently, I have not been invited to the family reunion. Rube Foster cares. One last note on the field that Mayor Tom Bradley played on while attending Rosewood elementary school in the 1920's. An LA city dept of rec and parks employee was running over baseballs at the temple st park with a Toro lawnmower that I had bought ( a whole bucketful by the POW memorial in Cypress Park, next to Metro and Gay st) that were still on the field from batting practice the night before with Francisco Villa clone, Wes, who coincidently also fought off the same employee a week before with a pistol, for the same reason, and had been cited and released. this was Jan 9th, The lawnmower beamed a laser at my knee, I ignored it and I jumped on the lawnmower, tore my ACL., I found out afterwards, that my grandfather had passed, which only further committed me to pursuing baseball. Last week I got a ball signed by Minessian the catcher for the oakland A's from 1988, who was doing security at my friend's club, I have played against his kids as he is a graduate of Agoura Hills high school, I gave it to my friend, a pro ballplayer from Sonora who i regularly play catch with on eighth and central, at Wells Fargo, next to the Central Market, the headquarters for all fruits and vegetables coming up from Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, Equador, Peru, Nicaragua. They are middlemanned here before getting delivered to all grocery stores up the state of California and Arizona. I recently got a t-shirt from Sherwin Williams, CYCLONE Joe Williams, Smokey Joe, ie the national paint store on Victory Blvd and Victory ave in Burbank CA. At the mcdonald's on the corner, I also ran into a 7ft tall ex NBA star Johnson who had court that Friday at the Stanley Mosk courthouse for a decade long battle with the city over benefits. Long lives the Say Hey kid!

One more thing, I believe I also ran into the Dodgers Brass at the mission breakfast that morning, but I had been dosed with some sort of dissociative tranquilizer, so I only was able to thank them for coming downtown that morning, Instead of challenging them to a game with the downtown stars and the dodgers all time. To help alleviate the strain of homelessness and provide anabolic steroids to all that are victims of hospital experiments in the state of california.
